Diagnosis of subfertility - Introduction
Current epidemiological studies show that between 15 and 20% of couples of a reproductive age have problems in becoming pregnant. It is considered that there is a fertility problem when a year and a half have passed without being able to become pregnant. This period is shorter in the case of women aged over 35, when it is set at six months.
If after this period of time, you have not been successful, it is advisable to consult a specialist in human reproduction to carry out a study and clarify the reason for the subfertility. Some cases can be solved with medication or surgery, whilst other cases will need to recur to assisted reproductive technology.
These techniques have developed in a spectacular way in recent years and currently the great majority of problems of subfertility can be solved.
